Mariam Kazem-Malaki was born in Bournemouth, grew up and went to school here. She has always been an active member of our local community. As a result of her voluntary work, most notably, working with asylum seekers, disability groups and anti-racism projects, she was selected to carry the Olympic torch on behalf of Bournemouth in 2012.
Over the years she has worked in both local and national government and is currently working in the charity sector supporting young people to influence policy decisions.
Mariam is passionate about making local politics transparent and accessible for all, and ensuring your voices are heard on the issues that matter to you.
