What an honour it was to welcome Caroline Dinenage MP to our latest association lunch last Friday as our guest speaker. As well as talking about the latest developments in Parliament, Caroline gave us an interesting and amusing insight into her long and illustrious career in politics and life as Member of Parliament for Gosport, a place she loves to return to after the stresses of a week in London. Making the most of her constituency's prime coastal location, Caroline has worked hard to promote the area as a world class hub for the marine and sailing industry and formed the Gosport Marine Scene in 2011 to promote the interests of local maritime businesses.
Caroline’s political career started in 1998, when she became the youngest ever member to serve on the City of Winchester district council. From there she went on to stand as the Conservative candidate for Portsmouth South in 2005, before securing a seat in May 2010 as Member of Parliament for Gosport, Stubbington, Lee-on-the-Solent and Hill Head. Having already held various ministerial positions since 2016, Caroline currently serves as Minister of State at the Department of Health and Social Care.
We would like to extend our grateful thanks to Caroline for such an enjoyable talk and for making time to chat with some of our members. It was lovely to see so many regulars as well as new members in attendance. Finally of course, a big thank you as always to Rt Hon Tobias Ellwood MP for his generous time and invaluable support.
