Although the Coalition Government promised to change the law regarding provision of traveller sites, the Localism Bill has yet to come into force. It will receive Royal Assent in the spring but until then the old rules (obliging all councils to build more traveller sites) is still in effect.
Even with the new law your signature is still required as Westminster has to still to approve all local authorities’ so called ‘Core Strategies’, (the local Council’s Development plans). If there is no provision for traveller sites included in the Council Core Strategy justification will have to be provided. Therefore your help is required.
This petition is designed to show how inappropriate building such sites on our Greenbelt would be. Please support this petition!

“We the undersigned strongly object to the proposed development of three permanent gypsy/traveller sites in Strouden, Throop and Muscliff.
Bournemouth has already more than adequately contributed to Dorset’s housing numbers and this would be an inappropriate use of much treasured Greenbelt and open space.”
