June 2nd Marks the Diamond Jubilee of HM Queen Elizabeth II who is on the second monarch to reach such a celebration since William the Conqueror. The nation gathers to mark and celebrate at a number of events and Bournemouth East Conservatives were no different.
A Jubilee Tea was held by the Littledown Ward for association members in the garden of the home of John and Sue Godwin. Sandwiches, scones with cream and jam, strawberries and cream cup cakes and bubby were enjoyed with a toast being proposed by the MP Tobias Ellwood, who highlight the amazing achievements of The Queen since coming to the throne and the respect and awe with which she is held around the world. He also said that the King’s Tower of the House of Common’s was renamed the Victoria Tower on the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria and that after a proposal he had made enough MPs had now agreed to the renaming of the Clock Tower the Elizabeth Tower to make Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee.
