Welcome

Over-development
in Bournemouth
With pressure to build more homes in the South West, over-development
is a major issue in Bournemouth and especially in Strouden Park.
Our greenbelt has been identified as an area for potential development
and we are campaigning hard to prevent this.
We recognise
that some development must take place, but this should fit into
the character of the area it is built and improvements to our infra-structure
must come before any large scale development is considered.
In Strouden
we have had a number of successes in better scrutinizing applications,
with some being refused.
Housing
development on the scale being proposed by the SW Regional Assembly,
without any improvement to our infrastructure, will change the character
of our county for good. We would like see the Regional Assemblies,
(which no one voted for) disbanded and decision making returned
to local authorities." Tobias
Ellwood MP.
Bradpole
Road Community Centre
After
all the hard work by residents we have news that plans for the new
development will be available in the Spring and we are looking forward
to a presentation which it is hoped will address all the concerns
raised during the consultation.
The plan to retain the community centre on the existing site will
be supported by building 7 town houses, not flats. This is much
needed in the area since many families are struggling to find affordable
housing.
Green
Waste Scheme
The newly elected Conservative Council has listened to the needs
of residents and will introduce new 140 litre green bins from April
2008. Your Conservative Ward Councillors, have lobbied for the new
system to run all year. The winter needs of garden and green waste
has been overlooked by the previous administration. In response,
Cllr Bob Lawton, Portfolio Holder with responsibility for Environment,
extended the system until the end of November. The new scheme will
operate from the spring. Conservatives want better recycling. Please
help, recycle more!
