After months of delay and indecision, the Lib Dem Council have finally washed their hands of Shelley Manor by agreeing to sell the property to Charles Higgins Primary Care Ltd who intend to house two local medical surgeries in the building.

Thanks to the intense lobbying by the Boscombe pressure group 'The Friends of Shelley Manor' the new owners will allow some of the building, including the theatre to be restored for the use of the community.

The 'Friends of Shelley Manor' worked tirelessly to prevent the Lib Dem Council from turning the entire site into flats. The Town Hall has finally got its money and will no longer have a say in how the theatre is run. This removes the threat of the theatre being lost completely.

The Council led Boscombe residents down the garden path by previously agreeing to consider a business plan put forward by The Friends of Shelley Manor. In reality it seems the Council were determined to sell the building in order to raise capital for other projects in the town.

In order to meet the high price for the land demanded by the Council, at least 14 flats will be built on the west side of the building.

Although local Lib Dems claim that they have helped 'save the Manor' in reality they have not put one penny into restoring the building. Instead they have sold a building which has been owned by the Council for over 100 years, with little chance of any of that money being spent locally.

Meanwhile the Friends of Shelley Manor are left with the task of raising the £1 million needed to restore the theatre.
