MP calls for full doorstep recycling

Poole have it - so does Christchurch. Why not us?

May 2003

More and more Bournemouth residents are concerned about our environment and are frustrated at the delays in introducing a proper recycling system in our town.

Tobias has been pressing the Town Hall to introduce a full doorstep recycling scheme similar to that found in Poole and Christchurch. Indeed we could already be enjoying such a scheme had we joined forces with our neighboring authorities but it seems red tape, and political horse play prevented us from pursuing this idea.

The Lib Dem Councillors claim that we already 'do doorstep recycling' by way of the Blue Bag system.' This system is limited with the restrictive selection of what can be placed in the bag and is not the solution residents want.

Authorities across Britain are progressively providing residents with the green policies we now expect. Except here in Bournemouth. If you would like to add your voice to those calling for a swift introduction to full doorstep recycling then please get in touch with Tobias Ellwood MP.

August 2006
The Lib Dem council finally agree to introduce wheelie bins. Congratulations.

1999:
As a councillor, Tobias campaigned hard for a full doorstep pilot scheme in his ward of Dacorum Borough Council. The scheme was successful and rolled out across the Borough.
