Thank you for your support
Following
growing concerns expressed by residents from across Bournemouth,
Tobias Ellwood is collected over 5,000 signatures and emails and
presented them to the Government in the House of Commons.
Key over development concerns are:
Over-development
Limited off street parking
Threat to our Green belt
Lack of investment in our infra-structure
Bournemouth is having to contend with
huge housing targets imposed by the South West Regional Assembly
which will see over 20,000 more dwellings built by 2026. Yet without
much needed improvements to our infra-structure such an increase
in housing with change the character of our town.
To compound problems, Bournemouth is
seen as an easy touch by some developers who are purchasing back
gardens and squeezing as many flats as they can manage, with little
regard to the impact the increased density has on the community.
Most back gardens are considered 'brown
field' and therefore easy prey for builders to purchase and develop.
Tobias is campaigning for back gardens to be changed to 'green field'
and so add a tougher level of protection to to our green areas.

Wording of Petition:
"We the undersigned, concerned about the changing character
of Bournemouth due to over-development and the lack of investment
in infra-structure, formally ask Bournemouth Borough Council,
the SW Regional Assembly and the Government to:
| 1 |
reconsider the impact present
planning policy is having on our town; |
| 2 |
introduce legislation to protect
back gardens from development; |
| 3 |
place more emphasis on off-street
parking facilities, and; |
| 4 |
ensure Bournemouth's remaining Greenbelt
is not threatened." |
